The song doesn't really sound like "Why Bother" by Weezer, but there is kind of the same annunciation when you say Why Bother. But when I saw the name of the song Weezer is what I instantly thought so I'm biased.

I've played this a whole bunch of times. Have to agree with taramarie: It pretty much perfectly hits the mark. I'm still impressed by how it sounds. Four track sucking or not :D

found in a reblog of a reblog--the only thing it made me think of is Cat Power's Names, and then only a little bit.

i'm pretty sure this song is totally boss!! and as far as already existing, it sounds like an allison weiss original to me. so, fret no longer! also, your songs are so relatable it is both freaky and awesome...but more the latter.

Ditto on the Weezer comment, that's what popped into my head.

But really, this song is unique and it's a damn good song.

It may be a sad song but somehow it makes me feel better. Thanks Allison.

    Love, love, love it.

I love your "running list" and opening your heart like it's your job, and too much space to make you stay...lyrics that deliver description and insight where there was none, and a tune that softly runs over and over in my mind and feels like watching a long distance runner who is in it for the love of exercise, not the race. Beautiful dynamics. Fresh, yet as good as the rest. You're amazing.

at first sounded a bit like Tegan and Sara but then you came in with the beautiful piano and blew them out of the water.

I like it. Sounds good, like an original. I'm a big fan of it.

This is a very Allison song.

I probably said this to Lauren Z before but Andrew Lloyd Webber once got a team of lawyers and music experts in to listen to a song he'd written, called No Matter What (performed by Boyzone) because it sounded so familiar when finished that he was certain he'd plagerised it and after months they concluded he hadn't. The sign of a great pop song is that it is instantly recognisable. At the moment you're recognising it but not placing where from... its from you.

I like this and good work with the FourTrack program. Even if it sucks ass this is nice. The piano is wicked too.

Sounds like an Allison Weiss song to me. Lovin' the piano and know that, when you're ready, you will be as much of a force on the keys as you are on the guitar. Beautiful accompaniment.

So I was humming "Why bother" this morning in the kitchen, and next thing you know I was whistling, "Don't stand, don't stand, don't stand so close to me". The Police. Maybe that's what was haunting you. Totally different songs. A few reminiscent notes. :)

Really like your song here at the FourTrack office. The recording sounds nice - guitars, piano, vocals all sound good. Your song is really fantastic. Sorry to hear you had trouble getting the tracks off your iPhone, but glad you were finally successful! Whew.. We'll be adding bounce this spring.
